Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3's
Just had 4 of the above fitted having toasted my original Potenza's at Elvington.
Got to say that these tyres have transformed the car - no more understeer - well certainly not on the way back home from kwikfit & they're a lot quieter too. Highly recommended.

I'll try my best! Impressed with the results so far though.

You won't notice unless you are trying, but they really need a little while to bed in, they bite very nicely then and let go progressively. Wet grip and traction is excellent too. A great all rounder.

I was meant to be having a set of these today (not now as previous owner has not left locking wheel nut key in car )
How much have you paid for them, I been quoted £340 all in for four, fitted, balanced and new valves?

Ive got the GSD-3s on my 99 Classic and they split twice on me in the first couple of months!! Ive since increased the tyre pressure to 34f 32r ( I think) and they`ve been fine. The grip in the wet is fantastic on these tyres and I do rate them Its just you need to keep an eye for splits.
This is what they look like

That splitting news certainly puts you off a bit though.

I will probably still go for them as most people are still rating them very highly. Cheapest I found was etyres, for 340 a set and they come to you and fit them. Locally I found them for a similar price so ill be going there as soon as i get the stupid locking wheel nuts off....

Nearly all posts i read said splits were happening on the lower load rating ones...
What would you recommend as a decent tyre, i want good grip in the wet and dry....

or is the tyre too wide for the rims?
i know the side wall on the f1 tyre are week
ive mullard the side wall a few times on kerbs where other tyres would probably of been ok
they need to be low profile and higher tyre pressure to keep the side walls stiff.
worrying though!
contact goodyear, see what they have to say.

215/40/17 83Y IIRC.
Tyres were correctly matched to rims.
Goodyear were contacted but it didnt go any further as they didnt seem too bothered tbh. Goodyear dont seem to think it has anything to do with load rating as 83Y should be ample.

I've been running Goodyear F1's for about 5 years (GSD2 and 3) on various cars and never had one split on me. I even ran one tyre down to the cords (poor alignment) but it didn't split.

Where did you buy them from?
My 215/40/17 GSD2's came from Micheldever and my 225/35/18 GSD3's came from MyTyres. My GSD3's split but only after I went a bit off-road in them unexpectedly
I never worried about tyre pressures too much.

I put two wheels on a bit of grass next to a hedge. The front sidewall had a chunk out of it, but the rear had a 3" gash right down it and I smashed my wing mirror on a fence post. I just assumed I'd hit something hard and put a gash in them both. Perhaps not with the rear
