Default Ferodo Ds2500 Vs Pagid

Thinking of changing my Front STi Brembo Pads for either Ferodo DS2500 or Pagid 42-1.
The standard pads are OK (ish) but give of next to no dust, which in my mond means there not that efficient/grippy. There's less dust on the wheels after 3 weeks then I used to get in 3-days with my old calipers on DS2500's

What's peoples thoughts....do I go DS2500 or Pagid ?
I have heard the pagid may give better initial bite, which I would prefer.
The Ds2500 were fairly quick to work from cold on my old setup, but still took a couple of applications to give confidence, are the Pagids the same ?

cheers....

Had both, find the Pagids are dirter and give more noise then the DS2500 otherwise very little between them. Both pretty good for intial bite from cold.

Probably go back to Ferodo on my next set of pads for the dust issue, but both are relatively dirty pads.

Of course got them from http://www.asperformance.com/

No cold start issues on pagid blacks. Was one of the reasons I picked them over the DS2500's. No noise either.

(std 4 pot's )

Ideally I want them to work well from cold but I can put up with a bit (i.e Ds2500's) as long as they work and the initial bite is good.

Found a site that lists EBC yellows for STi 02> but it lists a Hard and a Soft Compound, both under the 'Yellow' brand.

I've gone for Pagid Blues - better from cold and better performance all round wrt DS2500's IMO. Less dust too.

I had a long chat with Alyn at AS Performance before making my decision. He suggested the blue may squeal a bit, but only after a while if you don't 'use' the brakes, IYSWIM. A couple of hefty stops clears the squeal. Mine haven't squealed yet.

Edit to say on DBA 2 piece disks with OE 4 pots

What do you think of the DBA disks Jay?

DS2500 and Pagid 4.2.1's are effectively the same but the Pagid's have marginally better cold operating characteristics.

Very good

They were on the car when I bought it and the previous owner tracked it a lot, I've done 6 trackdays on them also and they are about half worn. They've seen at least 3 different sets of pads and no squeal as yet.

They have surface cracks in the middle of the disk about 5mm long - signs that they've had a hard life but nothing unusual.

Can't fault them at all.

Hmm still can't decide.....

Got a £10 voucher to use on ebay and TSL are selling Ds2500's for £142.

What are Pagid 4.2.1 going to cost ?

The standard pads are badged Brembo. Has anyone gone from stock Brembo pads to DS2500 or Pagid's ??

Yup , virtually next day delivery too

130 is the 4 pot price , not sure if that applies to the brembo fit...

EBC used to offer Yellows in a "hard" or "soft" compound but this is old info now.

From my own experience:
“I fitted a full set, both front and rear to my Subaru Impreza, prior to a trip to the Nurburgring. The pads were bedded in on the way over, approximately 450 miles. During the weekend visit I completed 39 laps, approximately 530 track miles and then another 450 miles back home. Approximate front pad wear was 2 to 2.5mm, still plenty of life left in them. The pads performed excellently on track. On the road, initial cold bite is good. After a couple of applications of the brake pedal the pads are getting to their normal operating temperature and are excellent there after.”

I'd vote for the new Yellowstuff too - tried both the Pagid 4-2-1s and DS2500s. They are as good as either and last longer.

Take a little while longer to bed in though.

Ordered some Ds2500 via Ebay as had a £10 voucher to use.
I've used DS2500 before on the previous setup and liked, so better the devil you know....
