Default Toyo R888

Am looking at fitting a set of the R888's

Would the 225/40/18's be ok for a classic (with P1 18" wheels, car is a 1993 WRX.)
I currently have 215/35/18 T1R's. I know they won't last as long, but has anyone else fitted a set of the R888 and got any good/bad views on them?

Not a good idea to run a list 1b tyre on the road Gary, they won't come up to temperature, won't last long, will tramline and will be a bitch in greasy conditions. Get a second set of rims and use them on track days.

Agree with this, these are not really a road tyre, they are a track tyre.
You would suffer badly in the wet, mainly because there is no where the water can go (no grooves in the tyre).
If you want a semi slick for the road then go for the Bridgestone RE070's though you can only get them in 225/45/17 in the uk for now (there is a 235/45/17 and a 235/40/18 available in japan).

Depends on how you drive (rating is A on the tyre), on a day at an airfield i scuffed about 1mm off in 60 miles but they were low anyway, on normal driving your looking at about (on average) 10-12k miles, can be longer or shorter depending on your driving style and road types you drive on

i use the REO70 in the summer and they had done about 11k when i took them off, i would expect another 2k out of them and to be honest i really tried to kill them but they wear really well

The RE070's are noisier but it is worth it - superb tyres on the road and track.

Got about 16000 out of my last set which was road miles as well as track days and ring laps.
