Default AP CP 5555

I have AP CP 5555 calipers these to my car with 330mm discs it doesn't appear to be the caliper used in the official AP kit anybody. I know some of the 6 pot AP calipers are better quality then others how good a caliper is the CP 5555 compared to the other AP 6 pots ?

It's easy to get confused by casting numbers.

Have a closer look at the numbers....you sure there isn't CP5570 somewhere?

Looking at those AP pages the CP5555 is for the larger 355-362mm discs and the CP5570 for the 330mm..!

Supposedly both better calipers than the usual 6 pot CP7040..

I've currently got the CP5070 kit with 330mm discs.

But now with 18" wheels I was looking at a 355mm disc kit for the front and the new 4 pot 335mm disc kit for the rears. It's only the CP7040 front caliper that putting me off, seems like a backward step to go from a race derived CP5570 to the road derived CP7040.

A 355mm kit with the CP5555 caliper would be ideal. Does anyone do one? Finchyboy - Where did your kit come from? Might have a chat with those helpful people from BGD and see what they can put together.

I dissagree that the 7040 calipers are a backward step , looking at the spec , the piston sizes are exactly the same , but the 7040 caliper have much better dust seals , the dust seals in the 5555 calipers , are a small O riing fitted in the bores of the calipers , so when the pistons are out in the elements , brake dust , road muck will stick to them , and can be damaged by stone chips , on the 7040 caliper , the dust seals are a better one fitted to the outside of the calipers , so as the pistons come out of the calipers , the seal come with them , always covering them , so they will not get mucked up or damaged.

Also the pads are much cheaper , the last DS2500's I bought were £95 a set , compared to over £200 for the same pads for the 5555's.

The calipers were originally part of a 330mm kit for an audi S4 i got the calipers cheap and had a mate make up some bells and brackets.
