At the moment I have 225/45/17 Goodyear eagle F1 tyres fitted.
I need two new rear tyres.
I was wondering what size tyres the wheels would have originally been fitted with because 225/45/17 Goodyear eagle F1 tyres are expensive.
Oh yeah, its a 52 plate wrx bugeye

WRX came with 215/45 ZR 17 as standard. F1's are a great tyre. Tried Toyo T1S, Pirelli P Zero Assimetricos,Bridgestone RE 040/ 50/ 50A on Imprezas. F1 for me has been the best all rounder. Personally I would not skimp on tyres on a performance car

At the moment I can rub the kerb and the tyre protects the alloy from geting scratched. If I get 215/45/17 will the tyre still protect the alloy?

215/45/17 has some tyre protection depending on the make, just be careful when you park.
STi cars have 225/45/17 so you could alwyas stick with that size.
Try the Toyo T1-R instead heard good things about them but not used them, have had T1-S before though, maybe cheaper then GSD3's
