Question What size tyre on a 2006 Spec B Legacy

I have a 2006 Spec B Legacy and the tyres will soon be worn out. The stock tyres are 215x45x18, but there are few tyres choices in that size.

I want to fit the 235x40x18 which is the same size as the 18" option for the STI and what I had on my STI. The circumference of the 235x40x18 is only 0.8% less so it won't effect my speed, economy or speedo and the tyres are only 20mm wider so I hope it wont foul on any bodywork.

I want to fit this size as there is a much greater choice of tyres in this size, I am considering the Goodyear Eagle F1 tyres but am open to suggestions.

Does anyone have any experience, advice on 1) the tyre size 2) the best type of tyre for performance with some acceptable wear levels.

Thanks
Mike

How about a 225/40/18?

Goodyear F1 GSD3's come in that size and in the XL version as well

I have thought about that but am concerned that the tyre is getting a bit small, the 215x45x18 stands 650.7 mm high, whilst the 225x40x18 only stands 637.2 mm high.

The 235x40x18 stands 645.2 mm high which is closer to the standard fitment and will effect the speed etc less.

Fairly surprised at that, as standard Leggy 17's are 215/45/17 which are exactly the same as the newage WRX fitment therefore thought the 18 size would be the same

That is why I am fairly certain that the 235's will fit, but I would like to be certain before I fork out that much money.

I have raised the question with Prodrive, but no response yet.
