Exclamation Piston stuck on Bug eye WRX

Came to change my pads on my bug eye 2001, and found that one of the nearside pistons was stuck, this meant that when putting the pads back in they would of course be touching until they wear out.

Needing this sorting out, so who/where is the sort of place to be able to sort the caliper out for me?

Cheers,

Mark.

You could have a go yourself if you like...

Seal kit from Subaru (approx £25). Pop all the pistons out, clean inspect/replace. Replace all the seals and pop pistons back in.

Or get your local Subaru garage to do it.

I recondition calipers with stainless steel pistons and new seals , fully bead blasted and sprayed any colour you want.

I charge £95 each or £175 a pair , plus £10 delivery to you , they are offered on an exchange basis , you would have to cover the cost of sending yours back.

I can also supply parts if you want them fixed locally , I charge £17.50 per caliper seal kit , and £10 per stainless steel pistons

Hope this helps

Cheers Ian

I'd go down the this route personally. I did mine myself and by the time i'd replaced the seals and a couple of pistons i'd spent more than £95 without painting them.
The original pistons are about £25 a pop from Subaru

well, it needs to go in for an MOT, so was going to give it to subaru with them doing that and the MOT in one day to minimise my time without the car.

The problem ive got with fitting a new caliper is i have no clue on brake bleeding and what not. I mean i had the caliper off yday, but was of course still connected with the brake hose.

Always a tricky one when you need the car and aren't too mechanically minded.
Might be worth asking your local garage if they can do it for you as I think Godspeed do exchange calipers. Taking it to Subaru will cost a fair bit and you're not guaranteed that they'll do the best job.
