Default Newage wheels on classic

Just fitted my new wheels today:

They are rubbing on the rear suspension struts - currently fitted with 224/45/17 tyres. Would fitting 215/45/17 tyres get rid of this rubbing? Does anyone else suffer from this problem? How did you solve it?

Cheers

I thought the classics used a slightly lower profile for 17s also

I can't be the only one with this problem!

I have a set on mines mate.. 215/45/17... no rubbing at all on standard springs. I think i should really have 40's on tho, something to do with rolling diameter or so i got told. I'm sure there will be someone with more experience along shortly..
Yours looks braw mate

215/40 17"s on a classic, but some people get away with 45's.

Alcazar

Kit B: I have the same wheels as you.

I have the same problem as you. A quick cheap fix is to put some thin spacers on the rear - 3 or 4mm should be enough. It worked for me.

This should do until you really need to change your tyres.

I have 215/45/17's on my classic. I only get scrubbage if i've got a few passengers in the back and go over bumps.

have 215/40/17 on mine.. absolutely nothing, no rubs or anything BUT the wheel is a little smaller cos of profile and would benefit dropping the car slightly to sit "right." that or i put 215/45/17 on which would be fine

I am looking at buying some 17x7 wheels for my classic and have been recommended 215/40 or 215/45. Some people run 225/45 on standard springs but get some rubbing when the car is loaded/driving in a very tight turning circle i.e. car park).
