Default PS2s v RE070s

I have two sets of wheels at the moment, with a set of the above tyres on each.
Car is 06 spec D. Suspension is Type 25 from Powerstation.
Having just changed to RE070s from the Michelin, I can say that the dry grip of the 070s is better on the 070s but in the wet grip is noticably worse.
Therefore in mixed conditions, the PS2s are much better as the difference in grip from dry to wet is markedly smaller and therefore you don't have to err so much on the side of caution.
The 070s are on for a track day, but I will change them back soon after.
I think in the Summer, where it is either dry or wet I will go for the 070s as it is easier to predict road grip, but for now it has to be an allrounder.
Don't know if this will interest anyone, but it isn't very often you get to try out different things back to back, so why not share?

Aye, I'd concur with that mate.

However, all I would say is that I was willing to sacrifice wet surface grip and performance to keep the RE070's for the chance that it would be dry for longer periods soon, such as the past 5 days.

The turn in and grip is just immense, by far the best tyre for dry conditions!!

Very different tyres. RE070s are a soft compound and will be great on a dry track and have a limited life. The Michelins are a great all round tyre for normal use and have a long life. Horses for courses.

Have to argue that R888's are probably more extreme, than RE070's I have some for mine and the grip levels are astonishing. Thanks to 911 for chassis set-up advice.

P.S. Might try some 070's on my std alloys soon tho'.

You drive around on 888s?
What are they like in wet and intermittantly damp conditions compared with other tyres you have run? Do they run ok in cold/dry conds?
Also, how do they wear?
They must be like f*ckin hyperdrive in the summer!

cster I drive around and track with R888's on I also have a spare set of wheels with 070's on and to be honest I found in the dry the 070's to be a better tyre due to the fact that the bridgestones have a stiffer tyre wall no give in them where as the side walls on the R888's tended to give in corners confidence was better with the bridgestones more feedback through the steering wheel.

Don't like flood coditions or slush/snow as you'd expect.

Limited mileage (and two sets of wheels/tyres helps) so wear is less of an issue, but still scary going , going, gone....

Grip is stupid even in the wet, noisy tho' like whinny (MTB tyre) noise.

I'm sticking to 17" on STI alloys next time to save money....

P.S. They don't like damp white lines one bit !

I have 070's on all year. Love them. Find them hard wearing. Not perfect in very wet/ icy conditions but not terrible.
