Default 17x7.5 et44, will these fit a classic?

as per the title, will the above sized wheels fit a 1998 uk classic?

if so, what size tyre would you all recommend?

Thanks for your help
Chris

215/40/17 is what i was told to get for tyres, need to know what stud pattern they are {5x100}is what you are after to make sure they fit.

they are 5x100.

its the et number that i am unsure about as i dont want the wheels sitting too far out in the arches and so making the tyres rub on the arches.

anyone care to shed some light on if et44 will fit ok or not in the standard 1998 uk turbo arches???

As far as I know the "Golden Figure" from Subaru is between ET55 and ET53, I had a set of original Prodrive P7 on my 2000 Clasic and they were ET51.

I have upgraded to StopTech calipers and needed wheels with a greater (lower number) offset. I have Rota Torque, 7*7.5 ET 48 with 205/40's on and they are fine.

They feel much firmer than my 50 profile tyres, but they are wider and lower. They dont rub my AST's that have been set slightly lower than standard.

No wheel arch mods needed, and no rubbing. Speedo gets a bit in-accurate around 70 - 80 ish, and the car find every last rut in the road, but overall am impressed.

I knew bugger all about offsets etc before I needed to look into it when I got the bigger brakes. I am no expert, but PM me if you want more advise by phone.

Richard.

At the end of the day the offset and PCD could be correct but if the spoke aren't designed to clear the calipers they won't fit.

Just buy wheels that are designed for Subaru fitment
