![Question](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/icons/icon5.gif)
This may sound dense and probably quite obvious but was wondering if anyone has had similar experiences, I have a MY99 Sti-V, got StillAuto SR500's 17" wheels on, Toyo Proxes, when I get to about 60 and over the steering wheel gets a vibration, over 80 and the whole car gets a tingling stylee vibration, Do i presume the wheels need balancing? - Also what speeds can wheels be balanced up to?
Cheers

You'll find that most places can only balance up to 70MPH.
A mate went to Kwik-Rip after getting some tyres fitted there (he bought them mail order) has a wobble situation afterwards and went back to them, they re-checked and found a wight had fallen off... he commented that thing felt funny from60 mph upwards... the guy responded by saying these machines will only guatantee up to 70mph.
Hmmmm

Hi guys,
I am Mark from Tyres Northampton,so my knowledge about wheel balance is pretty good.A wheel is either balanced properly or not...if a wheel is balanced correctly then it won't make a difference what speed you are doing,in the case of the wheel above mentioned the SR500 some tyre companies balance them statically, that is not the best way to do it,you should always have the wheels balanced dynamically and you will get the best results from this.
If Kwik-rip say they can only balance a wheel at 70mph then I personally think it is a bit of a cop ut that they aren't geared up to deal with the higher performance end of the market.TAKE YOUR CAR TO A REPUTABLE INDEPENDENT TYRE COMPANY THAT ACTUALLY CARES ABOUT THE PRIDES AND JOYS THAT WE ALL DRIVE.
Regards

I got the same wheels ... Nice choice...
On my old set of alloys I had a similar problem and I'd been to kwik Rip, A?S and they all said oh the balancings wrong. They doen the balancing for me and there was minimal difference.
I went to a small independent outfit and he put the car up in the air and said, you've got a buckled wheel. So it just goes to show that the big boys aren't the best.
hope it's just a case of balancing for you mate.
