Default Rear brakes

Hi all i am looking at converting my STI V5 rear brakes to a set up of a type r model 290mm discs calipers hubs. I am wondering if i will need the drive shafts of the type r and if they will fit my V5 rear diff or will my standared V5 drive shafts fit the type r hubs? I have ask one or two company's but no one can give me a definate answer. If anyone has done this change can you let me know what parts are required like drive shafts etc or is there a set from anyother scooby that will go on & do the job ie scooby V7 etc. I don't really want to have to start changing diff's. Any help appreciated Steve.

Not sure which the Type-R brakes are, but 290mm sounds like the new age 2 pot rears. If thats the case, you just need the calipers, mounting bracket, discs and pads.
Thats what I have done.
My mounting brackets are from Ian Godney on here, or Welcome To Godspeed Motorsport

I was told I had the newage brakes on the rear of my Type R, and asked a few ppl and apparently the rear brakes on a Type R are the newage 2 pot style.

Yeah, mines a classic. You've got to fit the 2 pots rears to have the bigger 290mm discs. You'll need the fitting kit from Ian.

Heres some for sale here:

They have the handbrake shoe pictured, but you don't need that. The Bracket is already on the calipers in the pics also.

the newage and type R both use the same calipers , and both have 290mm vented discs , but the type R has a 190mm handbrake drum where the newage handbrake is 170mm , if you are fitting the 2 pots on the rear of a classic , its much easier and cheaper to fit the newage discs , as you dont need to get the thicker handbrake shoes .

I am doing the grooved rear 290mm discs and mounting bracket kit in the current group buy for £150 , you just need the calipers

Cheers Ian
