Default Piston seize on the 4 pots??HELP!!

Hello all,

I have a V4 Type R.There was a strange grinding noise coming from the front brake discs. I took it to the garage (just a local one) today and he said that one of my pistons in my front 4 pots has seized up, the spring has come off and aparently it has pushed the pad at a slight angle. So the brake pad is very unevenly worn...??He said its driveable but to sort out ASAP.

Was the guy right, could that happen and if so what should i be careful about??

How much woult it cost to fix and do you anyone that would do that job?? If it costs too much tehn should i consider getting some Brembos off a newage STI??

Many thanks in advance

Yes thats bad and you should sort it asap. If you crash it may be considered a defect then bye bye insurance...

Easy to take the caliper off. Move the piston in and out a few times then asses from there whether to repair/replace or just put back on. Im sure you can get refurbed 4pots for 100 quid?

o yes and now you will need some new pads too...

Not sure that "spring" he is referring too.. There is only one cross shaped spring which doesnt seem to do much. JUst pushes the middle of the pad inwards. However they are held in by two pins anyway so not really sure what it does other than stop vibration/excessive pad movement..

Unless the pin retainer thing he classes as a spring which has come out allowing a pad to move. that would be very bad tho...
