Question Classic Subaru 4 pots - can you upgrade to 330mm disks

If you have the standard subaru later classic 4 pot set up a car with the 297mm disks. Can you upgrade to 330mm disks and use the same calipers.

Or do you need to upgrade the calipers as well when going for 330mm disks?

If you can upgrade - what is the best option

Thanks all
Steve

Hi
Yes you can fit larger discs with the standard Subaru 4 pots , we make a 335mm 2 piece disc kit , along with mounting bracket kit , caliper spacer kit as the discs are wider , and larger than standard pads , various choices but Mintex M1155 or Ferodo DS2500 are the most popular , I can supply you this kit for £550 at the moment , it will totally transform your brakes

Or, better still, fit brembo's for about £400, (their quite cheap at the mo!)as long as they clear your wheels, much better!

Not 'better still' though , we have tested them back to back and the 335mm kit works better than the brembo brakes , when it comes down to brakes bigger is better ,

Also, do the discs work out more expensive when you need to change?

The discs are £295 a pair when they need replacing , including a set of nuts and bolts , the discs are only available from me as its my designed kit which no one else does.
But as 172 sport has never tried them so cant coment on the performance of them , you should ask someone who can give an honest opinion on them , we have sold hundreds of them so it shouldn't be a problem finding someone

If it were me I'd be putting the Godspeed kit on as it will clear standard rims Brembo's will not, if you want to go all out, AP's.

There are a lot of parts on your car that are only available from the dealers , but you still bought it , the discs and pads I sell for this kit are competetively priced , and are available next day , so I dont see your problem , except them being Godspeed !

Not strictly true though is it. I can use various sources, breakers, specialits even dealers.

The same cant be said for the discs, a consumable part!

Having gone through this process with my GC8 track car, I had 4 pots front and 2 pot rears, I looked at Brembo's but would have had to change rims $$$, the Godspeed 335mm kit would have fit under the front and would have stopped as well if not better than the Brembo's, I opted for AP's as they are a proven package and I can remove them and reinstall 4 pots when selling. In reality how long will you keep the car and how often will you need rotors ?

I have been using the Godspeed 335 kit on my car, had them about 3.5 years and now just needing new rotors and pads, not bad when they have to stop 420 bhp
They are a good buy.

Ian, would these be ok in your opinion

Brembo Brakes and 40 GROOVED PERFORMANCE BRAKE DISCS, EBC Yellow STUFF PADS AND A GOODRIDGE STAINLESS STEEL BRAIDED BRAKE LINE KIT, FRONT DISCS ARE 324MM X 30MM VENTED 5 STUD // REAR DISCS ARE 312MM X 18MM VENTED 5 STUD

these are to be placed on 17" Alloys

Hi
I have never been a fan of 40 groove discs , to grooves need to be thin to fit them in and they then end up filling up with brake disc too quickly.

Do a search on EBC pads , not my cup of tea.

The rears will need our fitting kit to fit them on , the fronts will fit on fine. Just make sure you have enough room in your spokes to fit them as a lot of 17's dont fit over them

Cheers Ian

Hi Wayne
No I can't match the price on that complete package , a lot of parts selling on ebay is from china , very cheap and not made with the best materials. I would be carefull buying discs on there.

Our front grooved discs are £150 a pair , and the rear grooved discs are £170 a pair , can offer a Goodrich braided hose kit for £59 , pad wise , depends on what use the car gets , mostly town , hard road or track use

Ians 335mm kit is fantastic. I fitted it with refurbed 4 pot calipers and grooved discs/ferodo DS2500 pads and it made a hell of a difference, i have absolutely no stopping issues now....oh and Ian is a legend as well, he will help you out any way he can

Best upgrade i ever done

and if i go with Brembos on back i need ur kit of £175

plus cost of Brembos £

would i be as well to go with ksport 6pot front 4 pot rear, disc n pads for £999 instead
