i have got some pirelli tyres on the front tread depth all good but on one of them the rim protection lip is damaged.it says on outer tyre wall outside but as far as i can see the inner wall is exactly the same with a rim protection lip,is there any reason why i could not just fit them the other way so damage is on inside?
tyres are p zero rosso if that makes a difference.

No. If tyre has "outside" written on it then it is asymetrical and can't be fitted other way round. Carcass may have differences in construction allowing for main loads on the outer edge.
