Fast road pads...the real story?[long]

Been digging through various sites and forums to figure out the true brake pad story. What I am looking for is a good fast road pad with long life(MY00 turbo). The problem is the manufacturers dont really mention any negatives for their pads but I think there are always negatives. Important features for a road pads IMO are: good initial bite from cold, decent and predicatable fade resistance, kind to discs(low metallic content) and good life.
I have found the following:
Mintex M1155: Good road and track pad. Long lasting pad. Eats the discs. Some report a disc change with every pad change. Not so strong from cold. They seem to squeel when cold. (550-600C Max 0.42u)
Mintex M1144: Good from cold. Kinder to the discs. Can fade when pushing harder. Any more info on these? Do they squeel? How long lasting are these pads? (450C Max 0.45u)
EBC: Generally have good bite. Problem is very short life. (550C Max 0.45u)
Ferodo DS2000/2500: Have only heard good reports on cold operation and fade resistance. Supposedly kind to discs. Sounds too good to be true. Are they a long lasting pad? Problem for me is they are not available here. Should I import a set at double the price of Subaru items + duties and VAT? (650C 0.46u)
Pagid RS42 Blue: Havent heard much but general feeling is they are near perfect and kind to discs too. They seems to be pricey and are generally not available here. (550C 0.5u)
Pagid F/R: Unknown
Bendix (Heavy Duty?): Pretty good but reports of crumbling. Very well priced. (400C ?)
Bendix Ultimates: Very similar to Mintex M1155. (550C ?)
I dont want an all out race pad but I want something better than the Subaru Jurids. They seem to wear very quickly, initial bite is poor and I believe they fade very quickly(havent pushed enough to prove this). I dont believe these pads justify their price but I could be wrong. I am thinking Mintex M1144 are the answer...

I need pads for my MY00 Turbo as well and I've been looking into all the different options available. Ferodo DS2500 do seem the best bet, as you said I haven't heard of anyone who has found a flaw with these pads. Only problem is the price (and they take a while to bed in but that's not a big deal).
I'll probably think about it for ages being tight fisted then end up getting the DS2500's and wish I had done ages ago

Out of interest how long do Greenstuff seem to last on the road? (I know it depends on how you drive, but in comparison to the std pads).

I'm a regular visitor to Jo'burg - if you fancy DS2500's let me know - I can bring some with me on my next trip.I've got them on my back brakes at the moment versus ds2000 on the front so hard to say anything about them really, although I did seem to have a lot of trail braking effect at Brands Hatch last weekend especially once the brakes were really hot ie sideways city

I've been doing the pad rounds also. Had EBC Greens with EBD Turbo Groove Disks - the pads lasted OK but the disks warped. EBC appear to no longer recommend Greens on Impreza's. Have been using Reds but very short life (75 miles on track!!!!) and the replacement disks appear to be warping again.
I too have not seen a bad word against DS2500s, so have been shopping around. Cheapest I've found so far is £80 for a set from Demon Tweaks. Can anyone better this?
