Dodgy K-Sports?
Alright Guys and Girls,
Have fitted a set of K-Sports to the P1 and have now covered 300 easy miles bedding them in.......
They are really sharp at low speeds but:
Over the weekend I was coming off a dual carriageway at 70 and as I applied the brakes there was a slight judder through the pedal accompanied by that horrible kind of "knawing" sound IYKWIM....plus I wasn't really slowing down at all quickly
Tried a few runs of braking heavily from speed and they just don't seem to want to slow me down when I am travelling at any kind of speed.
Anybody know what could be causing it??
They have been bled thru a few times to eliminate air bubbles and as I say- at low speeds they are very sharp, pedal is firm and it really doesn't take much application to stop. High speed braking is concerning tho! (or lack off!)
Can't think of anything I've done wrong.......
Cheers,
Chris

I had ths same problem on mine. All I done was removed the caliper and then fitted it and it was fine. Not sure of the cause.

It could be the pads as I have heard they are not up to much , see many swapping to Ferodo's or Carbotechs

I am pretty sure I read a post by Ian Godney from Godspeed Brakes in the group buy section saying that he had tested so me of these brakes to destruction and there were no good and it would be better to spend the extra cash and get AP or Brembo. You get what you pay for regards items like brakes. Though like all products I have found you can never get a conclusive review and some people have problems or dont like things and some people will sing the same products praises

No you got your wire crossed there , I bought a different make kit from China / Taiwan that another trader on here was trying to sell and found them to be utter garbage ! I have never tested the K sports

I think you will find that ksport have never had a faulty set reported out of the thousands they have made.

Hi,
Change the pads for a good set. The pads supplied with K-Sport and D2 kits are simply terrible. They will stop you but any sort of heat in them or serious use and they are a total joke.
I can guarantee you that changing pads will be night and day. I deal with this problem a lot from K-Sport and D2 owners and every single one of them has come back to me saying that they cannot believe how much better the brakes are when you switch to a proper pad.
Thanks,
David

Cheers Ian, might have to hold on for a bit tho due to a major lack of funds...
Does anybody know what the part numbers for the ferrodo pads are? (I have 8pot fronts and 6pot rears)
Don't know whether Halfrauds/Dingbros will stock them but I have a trade card for them so might check to see if I can get them cheap- absolutely skint just now paying to get the other car on the road (and a garage built for them to live in )
First thing I'll be doing is taking them off and re-fitting to see if that changes anything, if it improves I think I'll just have to live with the K-Sport pads until summer time.

You can also use FRP3076 which is same shape as FRP3054 except that they are 17mm thick new as opposed to 18mm. Pagid pad shape nos are 1903 (18mm) and 8018 (17mm - which you need for AP 5570 caliper as 18mm is too thick). Alyn at ASPerformance on 0191 4103770 is a good source for the Pagid pads which are less expensive and arguably better than the DS2500
If you're near East Yorkshire I have part worn DS2500 3076 (14mm = 9mm of pad) and RS42 1903 (11mm = 6mm of pad) you could try, I'm now using RS29 which is terrific.

The 'Sport' pad are truely rubbish.
I did a sprint with them in and my braking distance increased when compared to using the OE 4pots and 2 piece disks / Pagid pads on the same track previously.
Only good for 1 emergency stop and even then they fade!
