Grooved or grooved and drilled?
Hi All,
My front discs and pads have seen the end of the days, I have a 98 uk turbo with four pots and 294mm discs.
Was just wondering what people advise to go for regarding discs - Grooved or Grooved and vented. I dont want anything that will break the bank - below £100 preferably.
Also looking at the Ferodo DS2500 pads - any other suggestions as again would like to spend around the £100 mark.
Your input would be appreciated
Cheers
Jenks

Venting is the internal structure of the disc rotor.
Drilling is something else, to be avoided on a road car ( as a hole raises the stress by a factor of 5 ! ).
Front will likely be vented (with or without grooves)
Rears may be solid

P.S. I paid more for mine (STI), so you may get them for that (?)

Grooved, as dunx said, more stress on the drilled discs, the drilling causes very small stress fractures in the metal which under extreme temp/cooling cause larger cracks and can lead to disc failure (Porsche do it differently and dont drill their discs though )

I got my brakes from Ian Godney on here, speak to him, he is the man!
I run Drilled and grooved disks on the front for over a year now driving everyday with no problems yet.............4 pots and EBC Yellow stuff pads!
I just got the groved solid disks for the rear off him with his own pads for £115 delivered
forgot to say I have a MY98 aswell

I've run grooved and drilled on the front of my classic for over 6 years now. Mine came from Ian at Godspeed too, I've never had a problem, and am on my second set, after the others wore out
335mm discs, Godspeed Brembos.
