Here's a question!
I am after some advice, I have just swapped my original 16" alloys(Classic MY99) for a nice set of Inovite Redlines. These came with a 'Budget' tyre on them, the size is correct 215 40 17. On the original wheels I had Michelin Primacy 205 50 16's.
Now the problem I am having is with the grip from the 'Budget' tyres, to be honest they are crap. If I give it a blast in 3rd it feels like the wheels spin before they grip. In the wet I have to take corners and roundabouts so much slower that before.
What I want to know is does the lower profile account for the bad cornering i.e. stiffer side wall than the 50's or are these tyres rubbish? I do intend to replace them with some Toyo TR1's or Pradas but they still have 4mm+ tread left on them. If it is down to the budget nature of the tyre then I will bite the bullet and bin them.
Cheers, Martin.
