Default AP brakes

I have the chance to swap my newage brembos with PF discs and pads for AP 6 pots with 330mm discs. Is it worth swapping or is the brembo setup good enough for 500 of each?

Swap them mate, the AP's weigh half as much as the brembo's and much better braking force distributed across the 6 pots, you wont look back. If the ap discs come with bells then disc prices are about the same for brembo's, No brainer really

Its a friend who will be selling his car shortly and offered me first refusal. The brakes are complete everything is included, just hope his wheels clear the brembos

Go for it. Apart from stopping power the APs give a lovely pedal feel, nice and smooth with a clean release.

I wish I could swap mine

Also you will have a better wheel choice with the AP's. Probably still a minimum of 17's, but any 17's.

I have the AP 4 pots and they are amazing! Great feel and car stops like it's hit a tree!

Having tried them both (True AP 6 Pot Setup with Yellowstuff'R' Pads vs Brembos with PF setup) very little between them.

AP Calipers (CP5570) are better than the Brembos but the PF discs are better than APs.

Go for the AP's.

Then when it comes to disc replacements get the PF ones. I have the AP 6 pots and PF disc combo and they are awesome. Only disappointing part of my setup is the Ferodo 2500 pads.. which I think are pants!

PF pads next time...

use a "proper" set of pads in the AP's and they are a leap forward again...........

Alyn what would you class as "proper" pads?

Defo agree on that, yellowstuff are some of the worst pads I have used. Bob how much for set of PF pads for the AP's?

I have Pagid RS29 pads in my 5570 calipers with PF discs recommended and supplied by Alyn. Awesome stop with very smooth action. Hard to explain how they have no sense of grabbing or holding on when pedal released, what they do is just proportional to pedal pressure and nothing else.

17mm thick pad for 5570 caliper is Pagid shape E8018, then specify RS29 pad material (FWIW I think this has a smoother less grabby feel than RS42). Beware the E1903 pad which looks the same but is 18mm thick and won't fit unless discs are well worn. Alyn knows all this and can supply.

Cheers, Diccy.
