Going from 16s to 17s on a classic - experiences wanted.
Can anyone who has gone from 16s to 17s on a classic share their experience of the upgrade with me?
I'd like to upgrade my wheels: still running 16s!
I'm wondering what effect did it has on the feel of the car i.e. ride/handling - does it alter your perception of the car's performance in any way? Were you happy with the upgrade?
I Was thinking of running 215/45/17 tyres to try and preserve some of the ride quality; would this case any rubbing issues? I have coil overs fitted, but the car certainly isn't "slammed". I'd be going for as light a wheel as possible; something like the Rota SDR or the OZ ultraleggera.
Many thanks for any advice offered.

Hi Ns
When I changed from my standard 16s to OZ 17s running 215/40 17s, I didn't notice much difference tbh.
It was a little bit firmer/choppier due to the tyre profile but that was it really?
Don't think you'll have any issues with rubbing on 17s, in fact a lot of people say they have no issue with rubbing on 18s.
Do it - 18s for show 17s for go

I've got Type-R suspension on mine. I was really surprised when I went to 17's how much more "pointy" the car felt, possibly because of the lower profile tyres I've got 215/40s.
Didn't really notice much (if any) deterioration in ride quality, thought is was a really worthwhile upgrade - and they do look so much better.

I have AST coilovers and it is pretty low, used to run 17's with 215/45 and they rub on the front upon hard cornering on full lock.
Back to 16's now purely because I want as low weight as poss (TE37)
