17x8 Wheels - will they fit?

Will 17x8 wheels (offset ET50) fit an MY00 Impreza STI V6 without the need for body mods? I know that 17x7 wheels fit but I wanted to fit a wider wheel.

No. And neither will the tyres - you'll need 225mm minimum.

You can use narrower tires than 225 on an 8" wheel. I had 205/55/16s before. That worked a treat.
