Default New age STI Brembo's on Classic?????

What would I need to do to fit Brembo calipers and disks from a U.K 2003 STI onto my classic 1995 STI? I have already got new age 17" alloys on it, which I had to do to fit the standard 4 pot Subaru calipers I have on at the moment.

Newage WRX alloys? If so, they won't fit.

The rest is direct bolt-on if you have the discs, pads, calipers and bolts.

Its worth changing the master cylinder too, it gives a better pedal.

Hi,
I was wondering about the same thing.
Would 18 inch wheels clear the new age brembos ??

Cheers

I have newage STi REAR Brembos on my classic, under newage WRX 17" wheels, the brakes fitted by using Godspeed kits. They DO fit.

Fronts are Ian's Brembo conversions, again under WRX wheels, straight swap.

Braided brakelines are a good investment too.

STI360 - I have all the bits and am about to do this with my winter wheels which I believe are WRXs.. I got some 10mm hubcentric spacers, is 10mm enough? They didn't come with bolts/studs, what length did you use? Ta.

The person to ask for fitment advice is ian@godspeedbrakes.co.uk, who can also sell you the bits needed to make any conversion work, and easy to fit.

Brown enough nose?

That's not what the OP asked.

STi Brembos don't fit straight under WRX wheels.

It's not the size that is the problem, but the offset of the spokes.

Not sure about the Turinis, might be worth asking as someone will have tried as they are quite popular wheels.

As I said, the rear ones do

BOB: I tell it like it is. If I get good service from someone, I'll recommend them. If, however, I think someone is not as honest as they might be, I'll NOT recommend them and will, perhaps, point out the errors of their ways.........until THEY brown-nose the mods

I have just measured the gap between the front face of a caliper , and the centre face of the disc where your wheel would fit up to , and there is 33.5mm , so to find out if your wheel will fit ( unless someone adds to this thread who has the fitted ) take off one of your wheels , turn it upside down , and fit a straight edge on the inside of the wheel where it fits against the disc , and then measure down to the spoke roughly where the caliper would be and see what distance you have , you will need to allow a gap of say 2mm , you can then work out if you need spacers or not

Hope this helps
Cheers Ian

294mm discs upfront and 316mm on the rear?

More likely the OP has tried upgrading to 4 Pots and now wants Brembos on the front instead.

I have Brembo's all round on my classic- rears have quite good clearance, bt fronts are very tight.

I rang Revolution about wheels, and they were very helpful in knowing what cleared and what didnt.

I would second going to se Ian- you dont want these parts warping, and his are about the only brake discs I havent melted on a car, nt to mention the rear caliper bracket.

I dont find my handbrake as good now its modified, and thats my only complaint. As said above, fit braided brake lines too- for the price not worth not doing, especially as brakes will require bleeding anyway.

A tip I was given was to put clingfilm over the brake reservoir, and then tighten the cap- reduces the amount of fluid that pours out.

I have 17 Rota GRA's

Hi,

Another query......

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't the front sti brembo calipers threaded to take the mounting bolts whereas classics have the thread on the hub ???
How do i get around that problem if I fitted them to my classic ???

Any help would be good !!!

On all Impreza's , the calipers are threaded not the hubs

So, as long as the front sti brembos clear the wheels etc, the calipers will just bolt on to my classic hubs with no other mods needed ???

What about the hoses ??
(I'm thick!)

Cheers

yes, as long as you use suitable discs and matching calipers - everything else just swaps........
