Used a similar product to smoothrite on mine and they have been fine for years. Still look as good as the day they were done!

Hammerite/Smoothite always gets suggested and most people appear to have no problems with however the Folatech caliper piant gives a much better finish and will not melt/ignite and is not really that expensive!

NEVER had any problems with Smoothrite, either in getting a perfect finish even with a brush, or it melting etc.

I've done two sets of calipers on mine, plus the ones on the lad's Corsa SRiCDTi, and changed the silver Brembos on the other lad's Clio 197, to red, all using Smoothrite, no probs.

With Smoothrite, no. Just wire brush the surface rust and muck off, then paint, two coats per caliper at about 30 minute intervals.

Smoothrite is under £10 a tin and one tin will do two cars.
