ATTN:- Alyn (ASPerformance), Ian Godney, Bob5. Any other brake guru!
Hi All,
A long time ago (2006 ish!) I posted on here about my StopTech kit and problems I had with it and so it was removed and dumped in my garage.
Fast forward to 2010. I have taken some photos of the calipers and was wondering if you could guess-timate how much it MAY cost to refurbish them? I also have the bells and old discs, but they are rusting a little in the garage. The pictures are below, and when you look at the calipers, you will see that one of them is completely missing the "StopTech" logo as the red coating has come off, and on the other it was flaking off in parts also.
There are areas where I moved to stick on wheel balancing weights, and at that time they started to rub the coating off also, my wheels were OEM 17" then, and with the expansion of the brakes under loads, the weights rubbed off the red coating.
My questions for a possible refurb job to you guys are:-
What could you do as regards the re-coating or re-painting of them?
Could you service them for me?
What options would i have for new discs and pads? The old discs were StopTech ones and i believe have a weird hole pattern. The old pads were iirc, BHP XPS or something like that.
Any info or help would be appreciated. As i was wondering of either selling them on or getting them sorted and back on the car again.
EDIT:- When i mention a weird hole pattern above, i mean between the disc and bell housing. I dont think, for example, an AP disc would fit, etc.

Hi
The calipers are the same as some Brembo ones , could be rebranded ?? I can fully strip them , bead blast prime and spray them any colour you want for £60 per caliper , if the seals are undamaged , I can chemically clean them and reuse them , if not , seals are about £50 per caliper.
Pads will be easy to supply , as they are a Porsche shape , discs should be easy enough to copy , if your running 17" wheels then I would guess they are about 330mm , I would either need to know the exact measurements of the discs , or send me a disc and bell , and we can copy it that way , discs to fit your bells would be £295 a pair
Hope this helps
Cheers Ian

Thanks Ian for the reply. Its a reasonable cost until i have to pay for new discs! LOL.
Not your fault of course, they are what they are. Then the pads would be 3 figures as well no doubt. I may sell them then and see what I can get. Its like £520 plus pads which will take it to £650' ish. Then i got to get em fitted, etc. When all is said and done I dunno, haha, do I sell or refurb? ................Hmmmm

sorry only just seen this
if you measure the PCD of the bell to disc then it may be that a match with Brembo/Performance Friction/AP/etc. can be found if not then as ian says above custome bells could be sorted easily enough.............
