I currently have 17 inch OZ wheels and I am considering moving
up to 18 inch. I am just looking for some advice as to any problems I may encounter, will I need arch modification etc? .I have a MY96 which has uprated springs and lowers the car by 25mm.

Any information will be appreciated.

Hi,

I have an MY96 with lowered springs (35mm) and 18s. As long as you go for wheels with an offset of ET50 or higher, you should be fine, and also fit 215/35 tyres. This is exactly what I have got.

Any lower than ET50 and there's a chance you MAY get arch rubbing.

But I've never run ET48 or lower myself, so someone who has may have something to say.

If you look in Member's Gallery under Rich Wild - Filmstar, RichiW has posted some pics of my car so you can see what the setup looks like. They are Radius R3s.

Cheers

Rich

I'd suggest 7 or 7.5x18, ET48 or higher. Just to be on the safe side.

18x7 is the best fit, with good clearance.

As David said, ET48 works about the best.

et50 8 inch wide compomotives on atandard suspension rub on the back arch when cornered hard, there appears to be quite a lip that could be removed from the rear arch though

My standard MY00 on 17", ET48, 215/40,(speedline GT1's) fouls the arch trim.

As we all seem to be posting on this one, I'll answer as well. The optimal offset for tyre clearance is ET53 as that will put the tyre in the middle of the space available, irrespective of wheel width or tyre size.

At this offset you can use a 7.5" wide wheel with up to a 225/35ZR18 tyre if it's not too rounded on the side walls. PZeros fit but some other makes may not due to kerbing ribs etc.

Cool

for sure... by hovering around that magic 50-52mm mark we even manage to bolt 19" straight on with no arch mods whatsoever! (ET52)

Our Exclusive 18" wheels is an ET 50 7.5 x 18. Even W I D E tyres won't rub on that

cheers
