Question Offset question

Hi All

Just fitted 18"x7.5" Inovit Tarmac Gold alloys on my 53 blobeye STI
and the fronts are rubbing on the inside wheel arch at full lock only.
These new alloys have a offset of 45mm, I know that my standard 17"x7.5"
alloys had a offset of 53mm.. so.. shouldn't this have moved the wheel out of the arch by 8mm ? as I had no rubbing with original STI alloys. Or am I wrong about how the offset works ? The car is dropped approx. 30mm on coilovers (which were on the car originally) but I got an ALK fitted at the same time as the new wheels - would the ALK make any difference ?
sooo many questions !

What do you guys think

Surprised that ET45 is rubbing although you are at the limits. Is the wheel arch fitted as it should be ? Prodrive PWRC1's are the lowest factory offset I know of being ET46 for STi fitment. I would expect ET45 to rub a classic but not a NewAge. ET45 makes them stick out more rather than pulling them in.

I thought that too - ET45 should give me 8mm more clearance inside arch.
I'm not sure if the plastic liners are fitted correctly - I assume so, as I have never
touched them. But I suppose its worth a wee look.

cheers

The edge of the new tyre will be 8mm further away from the inside of the wheel well and suspension components, and 8mm further out from the edge of the bodywork

"ET45 should give me 8mm more clearance inside arch."
yeah, probably should have said wheel-well. The tyres are rubbing the wheel-well plastic liner behind the strut towards the front of car.

Ok, found what was causing the rubbing

It was a small plastic liner in wheel-well that hadn't been correctly fastened back to chassis leg, where the garage had fitted the spacers for the ALK on front passenger side.

Now no rubbing at all

So, to sum up, these alloys fit perfectly with 45mm offset, and always check you car after someone else has worked on it
