Wheel nuts coming loose!!
I have just purchased a new set of 18" wheels, had them powder coated and then put them on my car. Since fitting them I have had to tighten/torque the wheel nuts up every week. I never had this problem on the original wheels? (still using same wheel nuts)
Can anyone advise whats wrong and how to stop the wheel nuts coming loose please

Do the wheelnuts have the same taper of the seat, or whatever it's called)
The area of the nut that actually makes contact with the wheels.
There are different types of taper on the nuts, and usually standard wheels use a different taper then aftermarket ones.

2 things:
First clean off the powder coat as above, the coating melts when the brakes/wheels get hot and extrudes out round the nut.
Second and more important NEVER use the small OE wheel nuts on aftermarket wheels which do not have the steel inserts found on OE wheels. These can pull through the holes with disasterous results. If you have done this I advise don't use the car until you have replaced the nuts with bigger coned aftermarket ones. These will do the job:

Again, thanks for the feedback.
1. The OE wheel nuts do seem to fit fine, the holes in the wheels do not look any bigger than the holes in the original wheels.
2. I plan on rubbing the wheel nut contact patch area with the sand paper as advised this weekend, hopefully this will do the trick.
Just out of interest, what do you guys torque your wheel nuts up to? I have a set of Rays 57Msport G07WT wheels, the panflet advises between 90>120nm. I have torqued mine up to 112nm
thanks.
Lee.
