Which tyres do you use ?
First of all, sorry, i know its been done 1000 times but its another tyre thread
I have a type r and was wondering what others use on theirs. I'm looking to get good tyres which are suitable for a good few trackdays
I've read good things about vredestein sessantas, never tried them myself.
£100 a tyre though, is this what I'm looking at to get anything good ?
Thanks

I'm looking for tyres also 225/40/18
Elitedirect.com, Rainham Essex are quoting £86.95 each delivered price for these, just been talking to them.
Also: Michelin PS3 £129.25 ea
Pirelli Rosso £111.63 ea
Dunlop Maxx TT £123.38 ea
The Vredesteins seem almost too cheap to be any good but they get good recommendations.......

there are loads of options for under £100 pounds
people have mixed oprinions though .
vredesteins are not a cheap tyre but they are being sold at budget prices by certain retailers which is pissing vredestein off as it is lowering their brand name.
they are a very good tyre but the market has been pretty closed up for them at the mo on most of the common sizes.

Perfect, someone who deals in tyres
what would your tyre choice be for a classic taking into account price and performance ?
I have 2 sets of wheels so these will be going on my P1 wheels, which I'm planning on using on track days and maybe a little road driving ?

I have the vredsteins. Less grippy in the dry than my Potenza RE070 s, but so much better in the wet. When they slide it is progressive, and they also squeal very loudly so you sound cool and think you're going faster than you are. Which can only be a bonus. They also offer quite good protection against curbing. I got them for 320 delivered from camskill.

I currently have Parada Spec 2's on my current Classic and i'm not really rating them tbh.......i had Toyo T1R's on my last Classic that was a similar spec and exactly the same wheels as my current one and wish i had bought them again!!
The Vredsteins get raved about on loads of owners sites but never tried them myself.

As others have said, there's LOADDDs of choice!

If you can stretch to them, the Sport Contact 3's are probably the best you'll buy in that size.

I have 2 sets of Yoko Parada's so they cant be that bad ;-)
They are excellent in the dry and very good for Track day use - £80 seems very good value to me
They are far better than Toyo's and Falkens (Falkens have a tendency to split the sidewalls easily and Toyo's are not good enough in the dry for me).
The wear rate is good on the Yoko's -if you know how to look after the tyres - the sides dont fall off as quickly as Toyo's
Best option is really a set of slicks for Track, failing this Toyo R888 - but on a hot day they would get killed on normal road driving (I was amazed that David Yu in his Nissan GTR35 got them as day to day tyres!)
But a world of warning on the Yoko's - they are not so good in the wet - they are fine for normal driving, just dont go throwing the car around in wet conditions as you will certainly see they can be very slippy!
So if your after a bit of track driving and normal driving Yoko's are ok - just dont overheat them on track - after 10 laps you really do need to let them cool down

my son is running a full set of these on his civic type r and he swears by them sticks to the road like glue... soft compound though so dont know what dsort of mileage you could expect to get he has done a couple of track days and a santa pod run what you bring hitting 14.2-14.5 standing 1/4 they do show signs of wear and they have only done about 2 thou miles but he drives it hard

Does no one really rate the Bridgestone Re070's?
I'm after a tire for a newage with 350bhp that sees mostly spirited road driving and the odd track day.
I was gona go for the RE070's dues to the stiff sidewall, but now wonderign should i reconsider?
Cheers

To me a key factor is how you like to drive?
I've run a few things but currently running a set of Continental Conti Sport Contact 3's on a 450bhp STi8.
I may get slagged here but I quite like them. They feel a soft compound and they are a summer tyre.
They have what I call a "forgiving slide"... so in my set up they break away pretty gradually. To me they do anyhow. I like that, it means I can quite happily get just over the tyre grip limit in any corner I like and stay in "full" control.
I'm certainly not saying they are the quickest tyre round the track, but I like them for road & track.
