anyone have any experience of painting the inside of the alloy wheels black? sounds daft I know but they get so dirty anyway and it's a right pain to get in there and clean them, and if not done proper look's tat anyway. I took all 4 off at the weekend to clean and even after 4000 miles from new, the insides are starting to corrode/pit and did not come up very well. Evidently the insides are not painted from new (cheapskates)...

I idd mine, took quite a while to do, cleaned off all crud with a wire brush on a grinder, then primed with Hammerite special metal primer, then gave a couple of coats of Smoothrite in black, looked good for a while, but then I got brembo's that were too close to the wheel, stones got in-between, and bingo, buggered paint, never mind, I've got 17's now!
It did work though, you need to be very careful how you mask the edges so that the front doesn't get paint on it, smoothrite gives quite a thick edge, you have been warned.

I took all me wheels off the other week end, cleaned the inside rims, and like you say they are bare alluminium. So after cleaning them brillo pads and wet n dry,I simply coated them in clear lacquer. Now Ive found that a simple jetwash once a week gets them back to silver.Takes a while to do but well worth it.Did my callipers while i was there, hot black paint black and white.Ill post the before and after pics later under "cruddy callipers". The neighbours must have thought i was mad, takeing me wheels off to wash them, little do they know

I'm leaning towards the black at the mo, or perhaps dark grey....
sod the neighbours, what do they know...
