Default Brembo or K sports

hi people, i have decided to upgrage the brakes on my classic wagon as tbh they are shocking Have looked into the usual brembo upgrade and believe this could be a big jump up but for thew price of the calipers, brake pads and discs, conversion kit, hoses, fitting and all other sundries. I was wondering whether or not the k sport updrage which comes complete with everything needed. But in peoples opinion what would be the best route am planning on using the car on the road but in the future after a few others mods etc am aiming for a few trackdays.

Thanks

Mike

It's all about your wheels, K-Sports may fit, but Brembos are a touch chubbier...

so with the k sports there should also be a wider variety of wheels avaiable. as with brembo's i know its a little more limited. Are there any known problems with the K sports

the ksports are a thinner caliper if you know what i mean . the brembos have a bigger casing which is where the wheel problems lie .

Tried both on my old classic, running around 330BHP.

The brembos were first on, started off with brand new set of oem pads (The set i had came from prodrive, that they had taken off one of the STI that had been turned into a rally car, these had less than 5 miles on them)

These worked really well, but as said you have a limited choice of wheels

Upgraded the pads the Mintex 1155 after a year, these were fantastic but squeeled at slow speed or when cold, it was something that drove me nuts in the end. Sold these to fund the K sports - these were also a pain to change the pads in and 3 out of the four bolts chewed the threads and required to be holicoiled. this seems to be a common problem with the gold brembo's

k sports 330mm with the K sport -Sport/race pad -Didn't feel as good as the brembos, took ages to bed in. the K sport pads were awefull, went off after only a couple of miles of spirited driving and only last 6K before they needed replacing. Changed the pads for a set of EBC Yellow stuff and these transformed the brakes. The reason I went for the yellow stuff was that I hadn't seen a bad review and the price was very good at only £87 compared to £280 for a set of DS2500.

The k sports are much easier to work on than the Brembos.

What wheels have you got and spec?

I just got K-Sports all around, i've not fitted them yet but they look amazing. The standard pads are rubbish by reputation though, i upgraded to Ferodo DS2500.

K-Sport are better priced but as for a comparison i don't know. I bought mine based on the facts they are used in Time Attack, the development is ongoing meaning the product is actually caredc about abd with the right pads i hear they are great and to add, for the price of front AP's, you can have front and rear K-Sports!

Read the K-Sport group buy thread, lots of information.

Thanks
Sam
