How do I get this look!
Hello all,
I think I will be changing my wheels soon, I have had my eye on the Rota Grid Drifts.
I want to look like this
Anyone know what offsets are required for a Hawkeye Spec C? I am running standard brakes but will more than likely be putting some better stoppers on there in the near future.
Cheers

Plus it's also getting someone to do it as most garages wont touch it due to insurance reasons, you can google it and do it at your home with a few bars and friends but your alloys will get some chips in it unless you go and buy a tyre changing machine and through it in the garage lol......
.......but advice, I feel it's Dangerous on so many levels

17x9 or 17x9.5 with an offset around 40-30 would be a good start.
just if your going to do it, do it properly, with the car proper low etc.
Tho as said, not the best for handling!

Lots of Whiteline stuff and EXE-TC coilovers etc, so its far from standard mate.
Why is it an issue with people wanting to modifying their cars?!
All I asked for was some help, not to be shot down in flames for wanting to change the look of my car.
I thought a forum was a place where people help each other!

It just seems a waste to buy a Spec C, the best handling focused version, and then PIMP it. Just doesn't make sense to me. Why pay the extra for what the Spec C offers to lose it? Normal STi fair enough..

You choose a hardcore performance car and want to turn it into a "show-queen", it hurts us poor people who have to make do with more ordinary models
But seriously, my wheels are big, and I run some serious camber, BUT it's to make it handle not to be a So-Cal wannabee.
It's not that we are picking on you, it's just wrong
Choose the right rim and it will look fat, but that stoopid skinny tyre + fat rim look is for the VW boys.
All IMHO.

P.S. Yes I am old...

Some of us on here have owned and run and modded and suffered problems with these cars for YEARS. If we see someone about to do something we regard as NOT useful, or possibly harmful, we say so.
THAT is the beauty of a forum, YOU can then make up YOUR mind from a position of knowledge.

I am not interested in the stretched tyre look, it didnt notice that in the picture I posted above. Thats not what I am about, if I wanted to do that it would be done to my VW Corrado!
Yes, as some of you have said stretching tyres is dangerous and not something I would entertain.
All I want is for the wheels to look not so lost in the arches, even you OEM guys must admit that the wheels really do look lost in there!
I like the standard wheels, and the standard 17" size, and I wouldn't really want to change the wheel size, so I will be looking for a solution that does not require changing the wheels.
I think spacers are the way to go. Surely this will actually improve handling as the track has been widened?
I appreciate that some of you are trying to warn me about the possible pitfalls with changing the geometry of the car, but its impossible to read things in text emotively, unless written emotively!

Spacers: be careful, they are known to put undue stress on bearings and half shafts.
Search is your friend.
Oh, and ALSO be careful. Unless the law has changed, there is a caveat that the wheels/tyres MUST NOT protrude further than the furthest out piece of bodywork.
Hence wide arches on old type rally cars.
The white blobeye above on it's BLACK wheels looks like it might fall foul.

Proper hubcentric spacers are upto the job, I wouldn't want to use them on track myself but others have, and yes they will improve the handling IMHO.
But as stated this places addition loads on the wheel bearings, leading to higher levels of wear, but that's not going to happen overnight.
Don't let "haters" put you off, some of the cars on here aren't my cup of tea, but if we were all driving a blue blob with gold wheels it would be rather boring !

Basically, as long as the tread is within the arch and the tyre is on a rim no wider than the maximum its designed for then no law is being broken.
