Default What brake upgrade?

I have sorted the power of the car for now and I'm running around 400bhp. Next on the list is to upgrade the braking system it would mainly be for fast road and the occasional track day so I was after some suggestions as to what you would recommend? It's a classic STI Type R and 18" wheels are on the car so size shouldn't be much of an issue. I'm looking for maximum stopping power for best value for money package. Thanks in advance for any help.

Ally

I can supply Black diamond grooved discs and predator fast track pads which im currently running on my own demo car. Low noise and dust and excellent bite from cold also. Prices are on one of my other posts and forum members get 10% discount also. Center of discs painted free of charge also

Yes, AP's will be the best bet. But expect to pay over 1200 quid for a new setup.

Drop Ian a PM at Ian Godney, (Godspeed), or e-mail on ian@godspeedbrakes.co.uk

He does a big disc conversion for those calipers.

I bought vented front & rear dics from Godspeed for my newage sti along with a set of ferodo ds2500 pads. (

In my opinon this was the best setup for my car as i was on a budget (as the rest went on the engine lol)

Speak to Godspeed or any of the other brake specilaists & they will sort you out

If your budget is less than £1k, then just fit a K-Sports big brake kit with EBC Bluestuff NDX pads.

£2k will get you APs or you can keep an eye out for some used ones.

Can supply K-Sports or APs with the NDX pads, just drop me a line for a quote

With 400hp you really need to go bigger , the standard sized discs just won't cope , some options I can give you are-

Our 335mm 2 piece grooved discs and bells , along with our oversized pads in bluestuff NDX is a very good kit to use with your existing Subaru 4 pot calipers , the kit includes a caliper fitting kit and mounting brackets , this kit works as well as AP 4 pot caliper kits of the same size as we have tested them back to back.
This kit is £550 including VAT.

We can offer you K sport brake kits with Bluestuff NDX pads , in either 330mm or 355mm.

AP caliper kits with our own 330mm or 355mm discs , bells and brackets and NDX pads , we can supply you a 330mm 4 pot kit complete for £1100 or 355mm discs kit with AP 4 pots for £1200 both including VAT
We can also off AP 6 pot calipers instead of 4 pots , but add £200 more to the kits

You can also fit the STi 326mm discs and Gold brembo 4 pots on , if you have a later type R with the 2 pot rear caliper fitted as standard , you can fit the rear STi brembo 316mm discs and 2 pot calipers straight on

There are quite a few options to choose from , it really depends on your budget

Cheers Ian

Would there be a big difference between what I have now and the Brembos? I could be tempted to go down this route but if I hold off for a while maybe just go for AP's

Cheers for that, but doesn't answer my question.
I'm guessing there must be some difference between the brakes I have and Brembos from a later model but how much an would it even be worth swapping to them?
