Default Fitting two pots to classic.

I've just been trying to fit my two pot newage calipers to the rear of my Classic Impreza.

(I have the brackets and 290mm discs btw)

I'm having issues with the positioning of the calipers, which I can only assume is down to the manufacture of the brackets I have. Its fouling the disc like the calipers are slightly too far 'inboard' and appears to be slightly too high meaning the pads overlap the disc Does anyone have any pics of these calipers fitted, particularly from behind so I know I'm not having a 'blonde' moment .

Cheers

Have you tried the brackets "upside down" as it were?

The brackets are symmetrical, so turning them upside down will make no difference.

When you fitted your brakes did you notice whether you had two different thicknesses of spacer for each side? (one pair slightly thicker than the other pair) Mine are all the same which I think is causing the fouling issue.

Hi
You can just bend the stone guard back slightly and the 290mm discs will fit ok , you only need the remove it when fitting the brembo's.

To the OP , the fitting kit we make , has all the same thickness spacers , our brembo fitting kit has slightly thinner spacers on the caliper side of the brackets.

Fitting them , the bracket is fitted on the back of the backplate as your looking at the hub , the spacers are only there as the backplate is bent inwards which gives it it's strength , so the spacers space the bracket off the backplate , and the other spacers are fitted between the caliper and bracket.

It cannot be one of our fitting kits as ours fit properly , we don't have any overhang of the pads on the discs , if your getting this then the holes are in the wrong place , there is nothing you can adjust to remedy this.

See the Rigs pic here how they fit , these are the brackets we make

Well had a productive afternoon and have sorted most of my issues out.

The fouling of the discs was caused by two things. The handbrake backplate had rusted inbetween the hub and the backplate, causing it to bend in slightly meaning the lip of the drum part of the disc was hitting it preventing the disc from slotting all the way on. All cleaned and bent back into place now

The other issue was the hub casting itself, the brackets were not clamping down on the spacers as it was sitting too proud, you can see the bracket sitting on an angle in this pic....

Attacked it with the grinder, that sorted it out

Then the pad issue......

Doh, one dodgy pad the rest fit perfect and dont overlap!
