Performance Friction discs and Z compound pads
Has anyone had issues with this combination of disc and pad?
As I have an issue with my brakes.....The story is:
Had them changed to pf discs and z compound pads, braided lines and fluid.
The brakes were sharp, but every now and then the pedal would go soft.
So had the master cylinder changed. That fixed the going soft, but the brakes lost that "bite" they had.
I have now had the calipers refurbished and they have not improved.

Do a series of high speed stops , down from 80-100 where conditions allow down to 20 , and keep driving to cool them off , don't stop still after the stop , do this 5 or 6 times and see what they are like then.
I have never been a fan of those pads , I found them wooden in my M3 so took them out , I thought they were poor.

Definately need some more heat... and I also found them a little wooden too !
AP six pots now on mine are so "bitey" it's astonishing how fast it loses speed in anger now.

i would suspect a bedding issue as the z-rated should give reasonable bite cold but get better with heat, potentially they have been slightly glazed by not working them hard enough when fresh??
at 2/3rds of the price of NDX they tend to be very good value and should perform at least as well (if not better) in our experience

I use this combination.
They definitely work better warm which I guess means working them.
If you go to a track you will find out.
First thing off, I find them a bit - I'm not sure if wooden is the right word.
I normally left foot brake (lightly) for 100m or so in 2nd gear, just to get a bit of temp in them - not sure if this is recommended, but it works for me.
To bed them in I just did about six stops from 80 mph down to say 20 using a reasonable amount of force ie not with someone behind.
I have no problem with the setup, but may be tempted by the bluestuff next time round.
