You need to start by telling us EXACTLY what brakes you now have. "4-pots" encompasses a multitude of brakes.

On my 98 car, for example, I have 4-pot Brembos, but they are the slightly smaller calipers as sold at one time by Godspeed, and they DO fit under WRX01 onwards wheels. The Newage Brembos don't

When looking for wheels, an ET of 48-53 is usually right for Scoobs.

Have a word with M4GGY on here, he knows what will and won't fit. Ian Godney knows a lot too, as does Alyn at ASPerformance.

What 17" wheels do you have that don't clear them? Got a picture, ideally of the wheels and brakes?

From what you say, I would assume they are OEM 4 pots.

Sounds like it if they say Subaru on them..........the wheels must be wildly out on ET if they won't clear those, they aren't the biggest calipers standard, are they?

My sh1tty old 16's cleared 4 pots, so something is up when 17's don't clear them.

Not necessarily.
I know of some 17 inch Speedlines that don't clear Subaru 4 pots. Can't think of their name.

he is right,my wife upgraded her two pot front calipers on her classic to four pots subaru calipers and has had numerous different wheel sizes over the years without a fitment issue over the calipers.

No mate, get the wrong ET again and you might even have problems again.

PLUS: on a classic, 17" is pretty much as big as you want to go if you want to keep the ride and handling.....

Thats just luck. Apparently its only about 98% or something of 17's that don't fit over Four pots.

To say this bloke has something wrong with his car just because he has the 2%, is a bit over the top.

Aye that's fair enough, but, when there's a good few 16's that clear, then it's crap luck with a set of 17's.

I know what you mean. There are also 15's that will clear. The only time I have ever had issues with wheels not fitting over brakes is with Scooby's. I suppose its better than the slidng calipers they seem to put on most "hot hatches" and the like.
