7 or 7.5

What factors determine wheel width choice?
When seeing alloys they are listed as both, what difference does it make?
I am fitting Brembo's to a Bug STi, and need clearance. While I know offset needs to be ET48, will going 7 or 7.5 make any difference
Cheers

Depends totally on how the wheel manufacturer designs the 2 wheel widths....
If the ET is the same for the 2 widths, and the wider wheel does not look more 'dished' from the outside, chances are the mounting face part of the wheel has been made 'thicker'. This will mean there is potentially more caliper space.
You really need to get sight of the 2 rim sizes, or speak to the manufacturer to confirm.

Wheel width is determined by the tyre width you want to run.
WRX 215 on a 7" rim
STI 225 on a 7.5" rim
ME! 235 on a 8" rim

P.S. STD STI alloys are ET 53, be very careful... mine are ET 44 due to being 1/2" wider

Up till the widetrack STI was introduced, some are late blob-eyes, then the hawkeyes, these both use an 8" rim with a different PCD.

If it makes it any easier, I don't know of any 7" rims that clear brembos regardless of offset ![Smile](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)
As a general rule you'd be unlucky to suffer clearance issues if you stick to the below![Smile](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)
OEM 17x7.5 ET53
Aftermarket 17x7.5 ET44-48
Tyre wise you can run 215-235 without any real issues, all depends on classic/newage
