Default Rear pads and discs

I’m a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to mechanical problems with my cars so when I noticed the rear pads and discs will need changing in the next few £1k I want to change them now before they have to be done.

I've been quoted £200 for supplying and fitting discs and pads. Is that a reasonable price?

Really quite easy, a socket set and you can do it. have a searchy through the guides on here, for a novice allow an hour or so (assuming nothing has siezed).

What would people recommend for a standard set up?

I spotted these on e-bay and there £50 cheaper than the Godspeed discs. I guess these will be the right pads?

We offer our grooved discs with black painted centres , and our kevlar sport pads for £95 to members on here , P&P is £12.50

We use top quality blanks so will cost more than others , which usually come from China

Cheers Ian

Hi

I followed this guide...

https://www.scoobynet.com/technical-...sc-4-pots.html

...for replacing the front brakes, and managed it a couple of months ago without breaking anything. And so far, the brakes still work & I haven't killed myself. Planning to have a go at the rear brakes in due course. The parts & tools I didn't already have cost me a total of £160 (had been quoted £350 from the stealership) and I've now got all the tools to have a go at the rear brakes / owt else that needs doing.

Up 'til then, I'd only done minor work on the car, nothing that big, so if I can do it, anyone can.

As for parts, I'd seen the cheap ones on Ebay, but in general you get what you pay for and I'm not sure I'd like to risk crap parts on one of the most important bits of the car. I got standard discs & pads from Halfords to avoid having to declare to the insurance company that I'd 'upgraded' the brakes by getting the Kevlar parts from Ian Godspeed.

Hope that helps

j

Definitely have a go yourself!
I changed the front discs to PF & PF pads front & rear.
Never done them before on any car & maybe took me 3 hours, with loads of satisfaction knowing I did them & saved me a few quid to boot!

Won't take me as long next time..

Just wish PF did rear discs to match the dimpled 2 piece fronts!
