ABS not working
Hi guys
my ABS light is on so I thought I would test to see if the ABS is working in the rain last night, Found out its not working at all.
when I got the car the kid said the ABS light was on due to the breaks been upgraded to a Hi-Spec 8 pot front brake conversion with braided hoses all round.
The handbreak light is also on and defo no change of clocks.
What should I check first guys, My first Scoob and beginning to regret it.
Any help would be great

Are you recently changed clocks on your car?
My guess will be if you are changed clocks(usual swap STi clocks into the WRX),you have now handbrake,ABS plus diff temp
If not,can be ABS sensor or simply can be hubs(this has been on our one too, when we are get ABS error,we are changed all sensors and we have still ABS light on dash and ABS has not work at all)

ABS Problems
Hi Jura
my car is an 03 STI, Clocks defo not changed, The car has had a big break conversion on the front with 8 pots fitted but this was before I got the car.
ABS light on all the time and so is the handbreak light
checking the ABS last night in the rain but its not working
Is there anything I can do to get it working or is it not that important
Cheers for the help

Hi Dex
I would visit your nearest Subaru specialist or someone who have Subaru launch monitor(this only can read ABS,Airbag and other errors),second thing you can do yourself via connecting connectors under dash/steering column
Here is guide how to do
http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=192583
http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/...d.php?t=117608
What i know about the ABS on Subaru, usually can be just ABS ring(speed sensor),damaged hub or sensor itself
But without the diagnosis/diagnostic its just guess game,we are replaced all sensors plus ABS pump(which fail rarely) and at the end we have just damaged hub(we are bought the car with ABS light on)
Good luck matey and keep posted on outcome

Hi Dex
I'm in the same boat as you - ABS light comes & goes but unlike you the ABS still functions when I brake.
I've had it in at the stealership who charged me £350 to replace the ABS sensor on one of the wheels - that kept the light off for about a month, but it's been coming back on every now and again. Next step is to replace the tone wheel inside the wheel hub / bearing.
First off, you need to know what sort of error the ABS light is flagging up - stealership informed me the fault was from the nearside rear wheel, but that it wasn't being any more specific than that. They replaced the sensor with no guarantee it would turn the light off, and it hasn't (though thankfully it kept it off long enough to get through the MOT). You can't use an on-board diagnostic cable to tell what the fault is as the ABS faults don't run through the OBD system, so you'll need a specialist to tell you where the fault is.
If you're handy with DIY, you could probably replace the ABS sensor yourself (new one should cost about £100, I was seriously ripped off). I'm not going to bother trying to replace the tone wheel myself as it involves taking the wheel bearing / hub apart, which in itself needs specialist tools & replacement seals - next time I've got a day or two free, will be heading to a local Subaru specialist to sort it out.
Hope that helps!
Will post a link for the manuals which show how to dismantle the ABS sensor / wheel bearing / etc.
