Clunking sound when braking
I have an '02 WRX with 140k miles and OEM brakes and suspension. 17" Prodrive wheels. The problem is when I first push the brake, I get a loud metallic clunking sound from the front end (I think). It doesn't do it if I repeatedly press the brake pedal, only if I brake, drive at least 100 ft or so, then press the brake again. Each time I get that clunk sound. The pads and rotors were just replaced less than 5000 miles ago and do not seem worn. It has been doing this since about 60k miles but has gotten progressively worse. I've had regular service and have mentioned this to the dealer, but they have never done anything to fix it, other than just replacing the pads (which doesn't work). Is this a brake line problem?
