Default Brake set up for track use?

Hello guys,

got my scooby last night, have to say she goes well but theres a few small things i wanna get done before tracking it, but the first has to be a big brake kit! the standards are poor lol i think my works fiesta drums work better lol

So what BBK would you guys reccommend for track and road use?

Cheers,
ash

what size alloys will they fit under? I think mine has an aftermarket set on, but dont know anything about them.... but eventually i want to get some rota grids for road use, and leave these as track wheels so the brakes will need to fit under both...

and how would they compare price and ability wise to say an AP six pot set up?

18's mate so thinking about it probably not best for track use

maybe a set of sti brembos with decent pads/discs/fluid or the k-sport 356mm set up on offer from 1 of the traders

for decent pads/discs try godspeed or aztec as both have xmas sales on at the min

current ones are 17's... if there is a kit that fits under 17's that would be ideal!

probably better to find a set of sti brembos (somebody from the trader section was selling some cheap the other day) then as mentioned get discs/pads/fluid from godspeed or aztec

what pcd are you running?

Ksport 330mm kit would fit under 17's I believe, not got them myself but heard good things about them. Alot more 17 inch wheels will fit over these than the Newage Brembos.

If you want to measure the stud spacing, take any 2 adjacent studs.
If the hub is 100pcd the distance between any 2 studs will be 55.9mm
If it's 114pcd it will be 63.8mm.

My guess is you have 100pcd hubs though.

If its a 99 classic the wheel stud pattern is 5 x 100 , we can offer you various options to fit under 17" wheels , if its for track use I can supply you a full brand new kit of AP 4 pot calipers , 330mm grooved discs and bells , alloy mounting brackets and Ferodo DS3000 pads for £1100 delivered which will fit under 17" wheels

Cheers Ian

Or cheaper option is to get Brembo calipers and discs and since Ian is recommending ds3000 then put them pads in the brembos.
But a good combination in a Brembo set up is as good as the big £££££ toys.
Also k sport 330 will fit under 17s and will fit under wrx wheels but brembos you will need the sti wheels for clearance

A decent set of AP or KAD's will do the job, as will brembos with decent pads, discs and fluid albeit a little bit of a heavy caliper though. But if cash is the decider then they could be the ones to go for.

Not a fan of K sport, only heard good things about them on forums, never used a set that seemed to perform well for the price they are sold for.

Conisder Alcon monoblocks. For £1650 + VAT you can get 6 pot kit with 365 mm discs ( or 343 if you want ) and yellow Pagid pads.
