What pads and discs would everyone recommend as my brakes are shockingly bad at the moment

what use does the car get , how hard do you drive on the road , any trackdays planned ?

There are loads of pads available to suit all driving styles

Cheers Ian

I'd also be interested in hearing the best options. I would only really require a fast road set up as I've not tracked it yet BUT would like to know, if the option arose, I wouldn't be in the gravel on the second corner!

Get godspeed grooved discs and kevlar pads all round, very cheap and excellent for fast road use. If you're going to track it you will need better pads as the kevlar pads don't work on track, don't ask how i know!

Car's never been tracked, and don't think it will be. Wouldn't mind something a bit better than the standard Brembo discs/pads for the occasional spirited drive though.....Looking for something of good value as I don't want to spend a fortune.

slightly track biased but the PFC "Z-rated" pads work exceptionally well and cope with track style temps.............
a little more road refined (and slightly more ££) would be the new'ish Brembo HPS

looking at option for mine at the min, assuming yours is a wrx?

I'm gonna switch to a different brake setup on mine, the standard setup wasnt enough on my classic at sub 300bhp let alone in my hawk with 400+ and the extra weight

No need for grooved discs, i would recommend the Godpseed discs and the kevlar pads if you are on a budget. Just did it to my Hawk and i was surprised and happy. Brakes worked well and no squealing or tugging.

I am not easy to please

Make sure your brembo bolts are not siezed first. Mine were and i had to have 2 drilled out.
Its a common problem. Again Godspeed do stainless steel inserts, but i did mine at xmas so no help about and i was time limited as i work abroad.

Other things worthy of note, see if you can get the discs with the bells painted. Mine werent and immediately started to look crappy. Had to take wheels off and paint them. But after that well sorted.

Default New Brakes

Hi Fella,

I got a secondhand Hawkeye three years ago (love it) and the garage told me I needed new brakes at the time of buying...they were shocking. Scoobyworld (they now service the car) fitted EBC disks with EBC "C" pads(ceramic?). They are brilliant. They work just like normal brakes at normal temp but when heated up they stop the car on its nose. They didn't break the bank either. I have had them since 04/2011 and there have been no problems with them at all. Go to www.scoobyworld.co.uk ..its all priced on their Website....they will sell you the kit and they will fit them for a price. I am sure there are lots of alternatives but these work for my style of driving...mostly fast "A" roads to Devon...a couple of roundabouts to go round...scare myself stupid and then slow down....the car's quicker than I am. Hope this helps.
